January 5 Ice fishing Jumpstart: Learn how to make ice-fishing your favorite winter sport. Baits, tackle, location and technique for successful and comfortable ice fishing.
January 12 Fly-tying for the Salmon River: More stonefly, egg, hex and sculpin patterns to bring to NY's Salmon River for the fall, winter and spring steelhead season.
January 19 Vexilar Ice Fishing: If you thought ice-fishing was boring you need a vexilar flasher fish finder and jig rod for fast action. With this unit you can quickly check bottom depths and look for active fish. With real time sonar you can see your jig on the screen and watch how the fish react to it allowing you to adjust your technique accordingly. This is a fun, fast paced way to increase your catch on the ice.
January 26 Fly-tying Terrestrials: Ants, hoppers, crickets and beetles are dry flies that big trout will rise to. We will spin deer hair, twist dubbing and cut foam to create these korker dry flies.
February 2 Hard-water Rainbows: Your trophy swims under NH's frozen Lakes and he may have a green tag in his back. Learn 'bow specific tactics to win the Rotary this February with new tips from the 2010 season.
February 9 Effective Braid Knots: Spectra braid has revolutionized fishing in the last decade and as gear and tackle evolves to suit super-line so must our knot skills. We will demonstrate the most useful knots in line to line, arbor and terminal connections for tuna, striper, cod, salmon and trout.
February 16 Ice Fishing Brown Trout: The most challenging NH gamefish is vulnerable to patient icefishers. Learn how to up your odds this winter by presenting the right bait in the right place at the right time.
February 23 How to Use your Chartplotter, GPS, and Sonar: Learn how to get the most from your marine electronics. We will cover basic operation as well as advanced applications like determining bottom composition, species and side-scanning plus plotting waypoints and cartography.
March 2 Crimping for Tuna: Learn the tricks to make strong reliable crimp connections for next year's tuna.
March 9 Live Baiting Tuna: Live bait was an effective tactic in 2010 so for 2011 we will discuss how and where to catch, rig and present live bait to bluefin tuna.
March 16 Live-Bait Trolling for Stripers: When stripers are spread out and boat shy, trolled live bait can outfish any other method. We will discuss how to catch, rig and maintain bait as well as speed and structures to target with troll-specific gear and tackle.
March 23 Groundfishing the Gulf of Maine: Cod and haddock swim in our waters year-round and are available to small boaters who know which days to fish. Learn how to make your own weather forecast and find groundfish hotspots on any given day. We will also cover Norwegian and butterfly jigging methods plus tackle and rigging for these deep water dwellers.
